Veritas Petroleum Services (VPS) has appointed Malcolm Cooper as Group Technical & Business Development Director and Steve Bee, another industry heavyweight, will join the company as Group Commercial Director on July 1, 2016.


Cooper, who holds a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from Nottingham Trent University, is a senior executive with demonstrated achievement in growing business through organic sales development and acquisition. He is also a Chartered Chemist and member of the United Kingdom’s Royal Society of Chemistry.


Most recently, Cooper was Global Operational Excellence Manager at SGS where he was responsible for identifying and leading on diversification into high margin business and delivering margin improvement by optimisation of operations. Prior to taking up this role, Cooper led the Oil, Gas and Chemicals UK business for SGS, where he delivered significant top line and bottom line growth, both organically and through acquisition. Cooper’s career background includes leading the National Laboratory Service, the laboratory testing services arm of the Environment Agency for England and Wales as General Manager, and various quality testing, analytical and management roles at BP, one of the world’s top oil and gas companies.


Bee holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Applied Chemistry from Northumbria University, and was most recently the Global Business Director at Intertek ShipCare where he was responsible for business strategy and the autonomous running of Intertek’s Global Marine Services. Under his charge, ShipCare achieved record high turnover from 2012 to 2014, through organic growth and the addition of new services and clients. Prior to joining Intertek (Lintec) in 2007, Bee worked for several years at Anachem Ltd, the United Kingdom and Ireland's leading laboratory liquid handling specialist, acquiring valuable technical knowledge and skills in various fields – including Environmental, Elemental & Electrochemistry and Chemical Analysis - before becoming the UK General Manager of A1-Envirotech.


As an industry veteran, Bee is a highly sought-after speaker who is regularly invited to give presentations at international industry conferences. He has also written numerous technical papers for trade publications and media outlets.
