April 1, 2016

GAC has been confirmed as the official logistics partner for the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge (ADDC) international cross country rally for the second year running.

The repeat partnership will see GAC support rally participants with a portfolio of through logistics services from their port of origin to the UAE for rally cars, buggies, bikes, quads, support vehicles and other equipment.

Founded in 1991 by Emirati Motorsport legend and ATCUAE President Mohammed Ben Sulayem, the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge has seen some of the biggest names in international motorsport tackle the UAE’s dunes.

This year’s event takes place from 1 to 7 April, with competitors spending three preliminary days at the Rally HQ at the Yas Marina Circuit before setting off for five days of head-to-head driving through the Liwa Desert’s Empty Quarter.

“The event is known for the calibre of its competitors, the excitement of the course and the challenging conditions participants face, but also for the ease of access to the host country for international competitors,” says Ronan Morgan, ADDC Event Director. “GAC’s performance in 2015 proved that they are equal to the challenge the race presents, and we are delighted to have them back in the driving seat for the logistics support the event demands. We are confident that our association with them will once again provide all the participants with swift, easy and preferential logistics services as they prepare for the challenge.”

GAC will deliver preferential access to shipping customs clearance and insurance to the UAE from Genoa in Italy, Durban in South Africa, Marseilles in France, Felixstowe and Southampton in the UK, and the ports of Hamburg and Bremerhaven in Germany.

“GAC’s repeat nomination as the official logistics partner for the prestigious Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge is testament to our Projects & Special Services team expertise in facilitating large sporting events,” adds Mario Coelho, General Manager – Freight, GAC Dubai.  ”We look forward to continuing our tradition of excellence in helping teams and their equipment get to the starting line without any hassle.”
