GAC, a global provider of integrated shipping, logistics and marine services, has moved Claus Schensema, its previous Managing Director in Shanghai, China, to Houston, Texas, to take the helm of GAC North America Logistics.
Schensema brings 25 years’ experience in shipping and logistics to his new role as GAC North America Logistics’ Managing Director, including expertise in international freight forwarding, contract logistics management, automotive logistics, oil & gas support and ship agency management.
Prior to his latest appointment, he served as Managing Director of GAC China for 12 years, based in Shanghai. During that time he guided the company as it expanded its operations from start-up to the recognized leader in international and domestic logistics services it is today. GAC China now has six offices and almost 200 employees providing a wide range of integrated logistics services throughout the country.
“My goal is to significantly expand our work with the oil and gas, mining and project logistics industries in North America,” he says. “We shall renew our commitment to those sectors, sharpen the focus of our logistics and integrated services and drive to further enhance our performance, to deliver a strong message about how our customers benefit by working with GAC as their lead logistics provider.”
Schensema has a passion for philanthropy, particularly animal welfare, the environment and underprivileged children. While at GAC China, he participated in the launch of the Green Bamboo program which supports the Longnan Elementary School for migrant children in Shanghai. He also volunteered at monthly read-a-thons with the pupils.
He will report directly to Lars Heisselberg, Group Vice President – Americas.
