Scania Join UN Global Compact

February 26, 2013

Scania takes the next step in its longstanding commitment to sustainability by signing the United Nations Global Compact.

By signing on to the UN Global Compact,  Scania has pledged to make the Global Compact and its principles a part of the way that the company is managed, and to make a clear statement about this commitment to the company’s stakeholders and the general public.

“For Scania, this is a way to express its support for internationally recognised principles of sound business practices, and to apply clear and straightforward principles which can be communicated and applied throughout the company,” says Martin Lundstedt, President and CEO of Scania.

Scania is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of trucks and buses for heavy transport applications, and of industrial and marine engines. Service-related products account for a growing proportion of the company’s operations, assuring Scania customers of cost-effective transport solutions and maximum uptime Scania also offers financial services. Employing some 38,600 people, the company operates in about 100 countries. Research and development activities are concentrated in Sweden, while production takes place in Europe and South America, with facilities for global interchange of both components and complete vehicles.
