New SatCom Test Deliver 50 Mbps to Superyachts

June 17, 2013

VT iDirect announce that OmniAccess S.L., communications provider to superyacht & megayacht owners, has successfully launched a live satellite communications network built on iDirect's latest iDX 3.2 software and incorporating the high-performance X7 remote.

The network, which was tested at Intelsat's Fuchstadt teleport over the IS-902 satellite, reached a data throughput rate of 50 Mbps. OmniAccess now plans a critical upgrade to its BroadBEAM ULTRA satellite service that will deliver higher throughput rates of 50 to 100 Mbps.

iDirect is a world leader in satellite-based IP communications technology anf OmniAccess is the first of its customers to launch a commercial service based on iDX 3.2 and X7. The satellite service provider is now set to roll out a significantly enhanced high-bandwidth service offering for the luxury super-yacht market. The upgrade will meet surging demand for bandwidth-intensive applications such as HD IPTV streaming and videoconferencing, as well as corporate VPN access and high-quality voice calls.

"We're very excited to be the first company deploying iDirect's latest iDX 3.2 software and the new X7 remote. The extreme power of this combination will form the mainstay for our new BroadBEAM ULTRA service with ground-breaking speeds of up to 100 Mbps. We're delighted to partner with iDirect on launching this important new product line, which will play a key role in our future HTS plans," says Bertrand Hartman
CEO, OmniAccess.
