Wärtsilä Debuts PSV Design at Nor-Shipping

June 1, 2015

With new rules and regulations affecting the platform supply vessel (PSV) market, Wärtsilä is launching a new PSV ship design at this year's Nor-Shipping exhibition being held in Oslo from June 2-5.

The new design puts emphasis on increased cost efficiency, innovation and reducing environmental risk, Wärtsilä said.

According to Wärtsilä, the design enables lower fuel consumption, with design improvements including an efficient energy system with batteries, and optimized hull lines with high propeller efficiency. Other notable features include an optimized superstructure and engine room, and an accommodation arrangement that promotes cost efficient construction. The design is in line with the future regulations for up to 1,200 m3 of type II chemicals, and has improved visibility from the bridge, reduced noise and vibration, and a main deck design that optimizes the deck cargo area.
