The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Aberdeen Section has announced that entries are now open for the 2014 Offshore Achievement Awards.

The awards, which are hosted by SPE Aberdeen with the support of principal sponsor TAQA, have recognized outstanding success and innovation in the oil and gas sector for over 27 years. Last year’s awards ceremony attracted a record attendance of more than 530 industry professionals.

This year SPE Aberdeen has introduced two new categories, the Inspiring Leader and the Environmentalist awards. Both awards have been created to recognize excellence in the industry – by an inspirational leader of a team or organization; and in the ever important area of environmental performance.

Winners at the 2013 awards ceremony included Graham Skinner of KCA Deutag Drilling, who picked up the trophy for Young Professional. Malcolm Webb, chief executive of Oil & Gas UK, received the Significant Achievement Award whilst the Great Large Company was awarded to Axis Well Technology.

The awards are now open for entries from U.K.-registered companies operating within the renewables or the oil and gas industry.

The 2014 Offshore Achievement Awards categories are:

Export Achievement
Safety Innovations
Emerging Technology
The Innovator
Great Small Company
Great Large Company
Working Together
Young Professional
Significant Achievement
Inspiring Leader
Environmentalist

The Offshore Achievement Awards are open for entries until December 2, and will be held at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Center on March 20, 2014.
