ABS Names New Chief Engineer

Montaruli steps up at ABS as technical engineering authority.
 
ABS, a provider of classification to the global marine and offshore industries, announced the appointment of Bret Montaruli as Vice President and Chief Engineer. In his new role, Montaruli will be responsible for overseeing the interpretation, application and compliance with the ABS Rules across all ABS Engineering offices worldwide. 
 
Montaruli steps into his new position February 15, 2016 to replace Jim Gaughan, who is retiring from ABS after 30 years of service. Montaruli will report to ABS Executive Vice President and COO Tony Nassif.
 
Montaruli joined ABS in 1981 and has held a number of leadership roles that include Manager of Offshore Engineering and Vice President of Engineering for the Americas Division as well as Vice President of Offshore Technology, most recently serving as Senior Vice President of Technology of ABS. He has a bachelor’s degree in Ocean Engineering from SUNY Maritime College and an MBA from the Mays Business School at Texas A&M University.
