Meltric Corporation, a leading manufacturer of industrial connectors including, UL/CSA switch rated plugs and receptacles, introduced today the DSN150 Series, which extends its popular DECONTACTORTM line of switch-rated plugs and receptacles to 150A/75HP. The DSN150 is a cost-effective, connecting device for large motors, or other high amperage applications such as, shore power, generators or power distribution. The DSN150 will be available in September 2014.
The DSN Series: Overview the Meltric DECONTACTORTM line of Switch-Rated Plugs/Receptacles
The DSN Series is one of the product lines of Meltric’s DECONTACTORTM Switch-Rated Plugs/Receptacles. Purchased by electrical construction, maintenance, and facilities managers for their safety, reliability and durability, the DSN series is both switch-rated and horsepower (hp) rated, and a practical connection solution when quick, safe equipment changeouts are required. DSN Series connectors are also ideal for wet environments, common in the food/beverage industries, since they offer automatic Type 4X watertightness.
As with the entire line of Meltric DECONTACTORTM Switch-Rated Plugs/Receptacles, the DSN Series connectors provide users with a safer and more reliable means of connection and disconnection than traditional pin and sleeve devices. Meltric connectors utilize butt style contacts that exhibit long operating lives and contain a UL/CSA integral switching mechanism that’s approved for both branch circuit and motor circuit disconnect switching, which eliminates the need for a ‘line of sight’ disconnect switch and auxiliary interlocks.

The Advantages of the DSN150 Switch-Rated Plug/Receptacle
Prior to the introduction of the DSN150, the Meltric DSN Series was rated up to 60A/20HP. For very high amperage applications, customers would have needed to purchase a DECONTACTOR Series 200A-rated device, the DS200 model, which was not HP-rated. Now, with the introduction of the DSN150, which extends the DSN Series to 75hp/150A, customers can purchase the more cost-effective, HP-rated DSN150. In addition, the DSN150 can be fitted with up to 6 auxiliary contacts which are UL/CSA rated. The only other device that could hold 6 auxiliary contacts in the DECONTACTOR product line was the DS100; however, the auxiliary contacts were not UL/CSA rated.
