Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) joins the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST) Marine Partner scheme, to offer new degree program.
UTM is the second Malaysian university to partner wiht IMarEST in a matter of months. As one of the country’s leading university in engineering and technology, UTM is a graduate focused university emphasising high-end research, innovative technology and value-driven initiatives. The university’s existence is thus synonymous with Malaysia’s growth and progress in technological and infrastructure development, proven by its track record as the provider of almost two-thirds of the country’s workforce in engineering and technology-related professions.
”We are working with IMarEST on accreditation of a Bachelor Program newly introduced namely B.Eng. Naval Architecture and Offshore Engineering (SKMO). This program is an updated version of our previous Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering - Marine Technology program. The old program has been running since 1983 whereas the new program was introduced in 2011. We also run the M.Eng Marine Technology course, and at Ph.D level we offer PhD in Mechanical Engineering,” explains Professor Zamani from UTM’s Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.
“We are delighted to welcome UTM as a Marine Partner,” says IMarEST’s Chief Executive, David Loosley. “They have developed and offered an interesting range of courses for both undergraduates and graduates, and are working with our accreditation team in relation to this strong programme.”
