This year’s recipients received an all-expense paid trip to the 84th IMUA Annual Meeting held in Austin, Texas.

In making the announcement, IMUA’s President and CEO Kevin O’Brien, said, “On behalf of the membership of the IMUA, I would like to extend our congratulations to this year’s recipients for their outstanding essays.  We not only looked forward to their participation in our Annual Meeting, but in their future in the inland marine industry.  We are confident that our Annual Meeting provided them many opportunities for academic, personal, and professional growth.  I also want to also extend our appreciation to all those students who participated this year and especially to their administrators for organizing the essay competition.”

The 84th IMUA Annual Meeting took place at Barton Creek Spa & Resort, May 18-21, 2014, in Austin, Texas.  As recipients, the students attended two-days of “Parallel Track” educational sessions which is specifically geared toward newer, less experienced inland marine underwriting and claims personnel.  As well, they had access to the trade show floor and all receptions and activities.

O’Brien noted that this year’s winning essays were both thoughtful and insightful.  “It is this level of talent that we are continually seeking to nurture as an association, as we develop the next generation of insurance professionals.”

IMUA sponsors for this year’s Student Scholarships were GenRe, Munich Re and Travelers.
