The International Association of Maritime and Port Professionals (IAMPE) said its latest two classes of maritime professionals have completed the IAMPE Professional Management Certification Program. The program provides a recognized industry-wide professional certification for those port and maritime professionals who have industry experience and complete the management certification program. The program includes comprehensive seminar education offered by industry professionals and approved by the Board of the IAMPE.
In Philadelphia, receiving the professional designation of Maritime Port Executive (MPE) were Gerhard Kusta, MPE, Executive Director at MARCOOS (Mid-Atlantic Regional Association Coastal Ocean Observing System); Gregory Dolan, MPE, Terminal Manager for Massachusetts Clean Energy Center in New Bedford, MA; Elizabeth Bonini, MPE, Acting Director of PennPORTS for Pennsylvania DOT; John Baudhuin, MPE, Head of Marine Operations for Penn Terminals, Inc.; James Van Dien, MPE, Associate Vice President for HDR Engineering, Inc.; and Keith Hermann, MPE, Instructor at the Maritime Academy Charter School in Philadelphia.
In Pittsburgh, receiving the professional designation of Accredited Marine Port Executive (AMPE) was Aimee Andres, AMPE, Executive Director of Inland Rivers, Ports and Terminals (IRPT). Receiving the professional designation of Inland Maritime Port Executive (IMPE) were Austin Zenere, IMPE, Chicago Port & Rail LLC; Denise Soisson, IMPE, Acting Manager of PennPORTS for Pennsylvania DOT; Paul Etter, IMPE, Vice President & General Manager for Reliable Asphalt Corporation; Mary Ann Bucci, IMPE, Executive Director for the Port of Pittsburgh Commission; Ada Perez, IMPE, Administrative Assistant with Inland Rivers, Ports and Terminals (IRPT); Steve E. Hawks, IMPE, President of Hawks Logistics, Inc.; James McCarvill, IMPE, Partner of McCarville and McCarville; and Gretchen Chamberlain, IMPE, Regional Sales Director for American Commercial Barge Line. Receiving the professional designation of Inland Maritime Port Manager (IMPM) is Matthew Pavlosky, IMPM, Marketing Manager for the Port of Pittsburgh Commission.
Both week-long seminar style programs were hosted by HDR Engineering, Inc. in their Philadelphia and Pittsburgh offices, respectively. Capt. Jeffrey Monroe, MM, AMPE, Director of the IAMPE’s Educational Programs and Senior Maritime and Port Management Consultant of the HDR Boston and Portland offices presented the seminar.
In addition to the professional certification, each individual receives four graduate level academic credits through the Loeb-Sullivan School of International Business & Logistics at the Maine Maritime Academy. Those with Professional Engineering (PE) certifications also receive continuing education credits. The IAMPE Maritime Management Program is designed to provide a pathway for professional development and certification for port and maritime professionals. Required course work includes management education, advanced executive management education, continuing education and industry experience. Programs are reviewed by the Board of Advisors of the IAMPE, comprised of senior executives from over 20 ports and business sectors in North America.
