Greek Shipping Minister urges owners to choose country's flag as registry gets revamp.

Greek Shipping Minister Constantinos Mousouroulis has unveiled a plan to modernize the Greek Shipping Registry that will come into effect imminently. Greece's shipping ministry will put in place a one-stop-shop e-registry responsible for the receipt of the applications, their processing and the monitoring of the necessary steps tied to registering vessels.

Mr. Mousouroulis invited ship owners to endorse the Greek flag as it becomes a lot friendlier to them under the new regime. The plan aspires to attract many more vessels to the Greek flag which is currently preferred by less than 30% of  Greek-owned vessels, through the elimination of red tape.
