Caterpillar to feature OCEARCH ‘Shark Wranglers’, at upcoming 2012 International Workboat Show, New Orleans.

Recently featured in the hit television show “Shark Wranglers” on the History Channel, OCEARCH is a non-profit organization with a global reach for unprecedented research on the ocean’s giants.  Much of their recent work has been dedicated to solving mysteries surrounding great white sharks.   The OCEARCH team sails the globe conducting scientific expeditions onboard the MV OCEARCH, which is powered by 2x Cat® 3412 engines and 1x  C4.4 and 1x  C6.6 generator while serving as an at-sea laboratory.

OCEARCH Founding Chairman and Expedition Leader Chris Fischer will be speaking as well as spending time in meet-and-greet sessions.  He will be joined by Captain Brett McBride, who has had many meet-and-greets with Great Whites.  Fischer is excited: “I look forward to meeting fellow Cat customers and sharing the story of exceptional service and support we’ve received from Caterpillar and the Cat Global Dealer Network.  OCEARCH is achieving sustainable progress on a global scale because of Caterpillar.”

Caterpillar will also be featuring its wide range of complete United States EPA Tier 3 marine power solutions. Among the Tier 3 solutions featured at the show will be the Cat® 3516C marine engine, C175 marine engine as well as the C18 and C32 engines, both of which have recently became available to order in a Tier 3 configuration. The 3500C engine family includes both the 3512C HD and 3516C HD marine engines. These are available in a wide range of ratings that meet EPA Tier 3 and IMO II without aftertreatment. These new propulsion, auxiliary, and DEP engines, designed and built from the current 3500C platform, have minimal dimensional and weight changes in comparison.
