Drydocks World–Dubai Collaborates with Imperial College London

Dubai has joined hands with the Occupational Health and Environmental Respiratory Department of Imperial College London to conduct research which will focus on the respiratory health of Drydocks employees.


Prof. Paul Cullinan, Head of Occupational and Environmental Respiratory Disease at the National Heart and Lung Institute - Imperial College London, had a meeting with Mr. Khamis Juma Buamim, Chairman - Drydocks World and Maritime World, to mark the beginning of a new relationship of mutual collaboration and research, his team along with Drydocks World – Dubai Medical Centre will be conducting a retrospective study to look into the health of welders in the yard.


Khamis Juma Buamim, Chairman of Drydocks World and Maritime World stated, “Occupational Health & Safety of our employees is at the top of our priorities. We recognize our people as our strategic assets and their development is of premium importance. We are pleased that we are able to contribute towards this landmark research in the field of occupational health and demonstrate our commitment to the health and safety of our workforce through this collaboration. Researches like these will not only have a positive impact on the employees of Drydocks World Dubai but can beneficial the industry globally.”


The organization recognizes the need of Research & Development (R & D) to promote occupational health and improve the working environment and health of its employees. Drydocks World – Dubai has a proactive and dedicated Occupational Health team lead by their chief medical officer Dr. Omer Hasan. The team has pioneered various occupational health programs and has been involved in various researches which have been published in reputed journals. Joining hand with Imperial College is another endeavor to pursue this proactive approach. Mr. Buamim has declared the formation of Occupational Health Research & Development Department and has extended full support to the research program and its team.
