The Canadian Ferry Operators Association (CFOA) has joined in 'Green Marine', a joint Canada-U.S. environmental initiative.

“Canada’s waterways are the lifeblood of our members,” said Serge Buy, CEO of CFOA.  “Without maintaining clean lakes and rivers, the marine transport industry in Canada would suffer greatly.”

Green Marine was founded in 2007 by major marine industry associations, ports and shipping companies in Canada and the U.S. and its voluntary environmental program encourages participants to improve their environmental performance by undertaking concrete and measurable actions.

“Passenger transportation is an important part of the maritime industry, said Green Marine executive director, David Bolduc.  “We welcome CFOA’s membership in Green Marine, as it sends a clear signal that ferry operators are willing to take part in the collective effort to reduce the industry’s environmental footprint and it will also highlight the environmental efforts they are already deploying.”

“We have a responsibility to our generation and future generations to ensure we have clean waterways,” added Jamie Marshall, Chair of CFOA.
