Caterpillar Debuts New Display in Miami

Caterpillar Marine launched the next generation Cat Marine 5-inch display for the marine market, joining the recently-introduced 7” and 13” smart displays designed to integrate seamlessly with the high-end yacht bridges. All three new Cat displays, showcased at the Caterpillar booth at the 2015 Miami International Boat Show, will be fully integrated with Cat marine engines and Cat Three60 propulsion solutions.
 
According to Caterpillar, the new 5” display features an eight push-button user interface, modern graphics, optically bonded glass, High Bright performance, IP 66 front and rear ratings and multiple datalinks (2x CAN, 1x Ethernet, 1x USB, & 1x RS485). The 7” and 13” displays feature touch screen user navigation, edge to edge glass, optically bonded, anti-glare technology, High Bright performance, IP 66 front & IP 22 rear ratings and multiple datalinks (2x CAN, 2x Ethernet, 2x USB & 1x RS485). Additionally, the new Cat displays include ABS, BV, DNV, GL, LRS and ClassNK Marine Society Approvals. The 7” and 13” displays will enter the market in late 2015.
 
Caterpillar partnered with BXI Industrial Systems’ connected systems experts to use Bright Wolf’s purpose built IoT platform to form the foundation for launching the next generation of intelligent Caterpillar Marine Displays to capture, manage and visualize data from remote assets.
 
“The introduction of this new line of smart marine displays strategically positions Caterpillar to continue as the industry leader in developing, distributing and supporting durable, reliable equipment,” Merritt Callaghan, Caterpillar Marine Electronics supervisor said. “The Bright Wolf IoT Platform is core to our ability to driving industrial grade equipment operational systems and rapidly responding to the unique and evolving marine market requirements.”
 
Caterpillar said it selected BXI Industrial Systems and the Bright Wolf IoT Platform based on the company’s early expertise with M2M/IoT and deep experience delivering future resistant solutions highlighting Caterpillar’s commitment to the promise of total life cycle value.
