The offshore converter platform, BorWin gamma, has now safely set sail from Dubai and begun its journey to its offshore site in the German part of the North Sea.Through the Gulf of Oman, the 18,000 ton ‘topside’ will pass into the Red Sea before going through the Suez Canal onto the Mediterranean and past Gibraltar. Topaz Announces Leadership Changes
Jay Daga has been named Chief Financial Officer of Topaz Energy and Marine, an international offshore support vessel owner with operations in the Middle East, Caspian and West Africa. Daga will take his position with immediate effect, having been with Topaz for 15 years in a number of finance positions, most recently as Deputy CFO. Topaz noted that Daga led its two latest capital raising initiatives being the company’s $350 million corporate bond issue in 2013 and its recent $75 million equity injection by Standard Chartered Private Equity.

First LNG Fuelled Tug for Middle East by Wärtsilä
Drydocks World (DDW) based in Dubai, UAE, has contracted Wärtsilä to design and supply the propulsion and other equipment for a new harbour tug that will operate on liquefied natural gas (LNG). This will be the first harbour tug in the Middle East region to operate on gas. The order was signed in November. The 29-meter-long tug is the first of a series of nine such vessels to be built and operated by DDW. The project is part of a green initiative launched by the Dubai government, and is intended to set an example for promoting environmental sustainability throughout the region.
