Bahri Data showcased its Big Data capabilities at the Maritime Innovation and Digitalization Day 2017, organized by Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA).

Representing Bahri at the event which was recently held in Dubai, Anwar Siddiqui, President of Bahri Data, shared insights on Big Data analytics for the shipping industry, drawing attention to the latest trends in Big Data adoption, while identifying key challenges and significant growth drivers for data innovation in the maritime industry.

During his session, Siddiqui noted that the industry, which accounts for 90% of the total trade in the world and provides millions of jobs, currently generates a huge volume of data points every day. Nonetheless, only a fraction of data is actually analyzed to be utilized in making everyday operations data-smart.

“The potential and future of the Big Data adoption in shipping and logistics industry is unparalleled. By taking advantage of the data science-driven insights hidden in massive data sets that are either already existing or being churned out daily and using artificial intelligence technology, the industry can improve operational performance and efficiency as well as safety and quality in addition to increasing customer satisfaction. We, at Bahri, remain confident and are inspired by the opportunity it represents,” said Siddiqui.

Highlighting Bahri Data’s achievements and plans, Siddiqui presented Bahri’s approach to exploit Big Data. During the presentation, he shed light on the Bahri Resource Integrated Sea Operation (BRISO) platform, which leverages data within the Bahri Data Lake, and the Bahri Data Grid to provide actionable intelligence.

“Within a short span of time, Bahri Data has been able to make several leaps in data innovation by delivering real-time data analysis and intelligence to drive long-term value to our stakeholders,” he added.

Founded in 2015, Bahri Data comprises maritime industry professionals and technology specialists who collectively have 350+ years of domain knowledge.
