June 23, 2014

IACS member classification society, Korean Register (KR) has been authorized by the Ministry of Transport and Communications in the Sultanate of Oman to deliver “statutory services” on behalf of the Oman government.

The Oman authorities have also authorized LR and BV, alongside KR, allowing each society to perform statutory services on the government’s behalf.

Within Oman, KR is now able to conduct relevant surveys and audits, as well as issue certificates to Oman flagged ships for SOLAS, MARPOL, ITC, ILL, ISM Code, ISPS Code, and MLC.

Mr. Jung Young-jun, Executive Vice President/Chairman and CEO said, “We are extremely pleased to be given the stamp of approval by the Oman government. We are now authorized by 66 countries to deliver statutory services. Today’s approval is a further demonstration of KR’s growing strength and reach within the international shipping sector.”
