CMA CGM - Adani Mundra Terminal Gets New Cranes

 

ACMT is an equal joint venture with French container line CMA CGM SA and  Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ), India’s biggest private port operator —the fourth—at Mundra port in Gujarat.

 

The equipment was brought in by ZPMC vessel ZHEN HUA25 its unloading took six days. 

 

The four  RMQC super post-Panamax rail-mounted quay cranes are with twin-lift capability and three rubber-tire gantry cranes that will allow the port to handle its increasing throughput at a time of weak demand.

 

 ACMT, the fourth container facility at Mundra Port, is expected to start operations in the first half of next year. The other three are ADANI International Container Terminal (AICTPL) – JV with TIL, ADANI CMA Mundra Terminal (ACMTPL) and Mundra International Container Terminal (MICT).

 

On completion, the new terminal will have 2,133 feet of quay, draft of 54 feet, 67 acres of yard space, four rail-mounted quay cranes and 12 rubber-tire gantry cranes, capable of handling ships with capacities of 18,000 twenty-foot-equivalent units. 

 

It will be a 650-metre terminal along with 27 hectares of back area capable of handling 1.3 million TEUs annually.  

 

For CMA CGM, Mundra Container Terminal is the Group’s first port investment in India, and demonstrates its ambition to further increase its presence in this strategic and fast-developing country. CMA CGM is present in India since 1984.
