3sun Group, a specialist provider of products and services to the global energy industry, has appointed Dene Heywood as commercial director.

Operating in the oil and gas and wind sectors both onshore and offshore, 3sun Group is an established supplier of control panels for offshore oil and gas subsea and platform applications, as well as the installation, inspection and maintenance of wind turbines.

Dene Heywood joins 3sun Group after 14 years as group finance director and company secretary for Gardline Shipping Ltd where he contributed to identifying and developing areas of growth within the business and was responsible for ensuring legal and regulatory compliance across multiple jurisdictions.

Dene Heywood started his career as a law graduate, achieving further professional qualifications from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and the Institute of Directors, and gaining a breadth of experience across a significant number of business sectors.

Dene Heywood’s experience in corporate finance will add legal and financial expertise to the board of directors at 3sun Group, whilst his strong track record in internationalisation and rapidly growing business streams will assist the Group in achieving its strategic objectives in business development and organic growth.

Commenting on his appointment, Dene Heywood said: “I’m delighted to have joined the board at 3sun Group, I believe the role will enable me to combine my financial and legal experience to further develop the impressive growth achieved by the company so far, and also help to deliver the strategic results required for long-term success.”

As part of the Group’s growth strategy, the RRC Controls Services division has also recently appointed two technical authority engineers and a senior systems engineer. The acquisition of this division in 2013 allowed 3sun Group to provide the global subsea market with full turnkey engineering solutions and has been a fundamental part of the Group’s expansion.

Graham Hacon, CEO of 3sun Group, said: “Dene’s depth of knowledge and experience across the corporate finance sector will be invaluable to the company, in particular his ability to quickly develop business streams and identify strategic opportunities.
