Yacht Propulsion & Maneuvering Solution Launched by CAT

August 26, 2012

The Cat® Three60 Precision Control is an integrated propulsion and maneuvering system developed for the yachting market.

The Caterpillar Three60 Precision Control combines yacht propulsion and control components into single or multiple joystick stations. Integrating and optimizing the propulsion and control system through Cat Three60 revolutionizes slow speed control of conventional shaft and propeller driven yachts.

The unique value of Cat Three60 is simultaneously actuating engine controls, transmissions, thrusters, and propellers with simple fingertip movements of the joystick controller. The Cat Three60 provides fully proportional power in any direction with propeller control down to 50 shaft rpm.

The system requires the use of Twin Disc QuickShift® transmissions which provide the fastest response and vessel control using QuickShift® technology. The best in class QuickShift® transmissions smoothly transmit multi-directional torque in an amazing 50 milliseconds.

The Cat Three60 Precision Control system includes throttle control, electrical harnesses, sensors, bow thruster, stern thruster (application dependent) and hydraulic system components that are all supported with our global warranty and the Global Caterpillar Authorized Dealer Network.

Additional enhancements to the Cat Three60 Precision Control product such as a GPS based location maintaining feature will be available in the first quarter 2013 for new yachts and retrofittable in existing Cat Three60 Precision Control installed yachts. For additional information on Cat Three60 Precision Control, please contact your local Cat Dealer or visit marine.cat.com.

The performance of Cat Three60 rivals best in class for any maneuvering products offered. "The ease of maneuvering, immediate response time, silky smooth operation, and other inherent features of the Cat Three60 take Caterpillar Marine and our customers to a new level” said David Shannon, Caterpillar’s Global Pleasure Craft Manager.
