Viking Supply Ships has been awarded a management contract to operate the SMA ice-breaker fleet for a period of seven years. The contract is a continuation of a current management which commenced in 2000. The contract is done at market terms.

The contract with the Swedish Maritime Authorities is considered to be a strategically important contract for Viking Supply Ships, and further confirms the company’s position as one of the world’s leading operators of ice-breakers and offshore vessels designed for arctic and harsh environments. The company now operates a fleet of five state-owned ice-breakers, three ice-breaking AHTS vessels, four ice-class 1A AHTS vessels and in addition five PSVs and one AHTS.
