Upcoming Chesapeake MTI Professional Mariner Job Fair

June 23, 2014

Chesapeake Marine Training Institute (Chesapeake MTI) says it will host a professional mariner job fair August 13, 2014, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at its campus in Hayes, Va.

Among the mariners the companies are seeking include wheelhouse tug operators, engineers, and tankermen.

Mariners of all license and credential levels are encouraged to attend.

Professional marine companies, including the Maryland-based Vane Brothers Company, will be on site to meet and interview potential job candidates.

Chesapeake Marine Training Institute staff and instructors will be available to work with job candidates on licensing and credentialing needs.

“We believe this event, one we’ve held for two years now, is what sets us apart,” said Capt. Guy Sorensen, President and Founder of Chesapeake Marine Training Institute. “Not only are we honored to help prepare every mariner that comes through our doors with the training and education they’ll need when they are out to sea, but we want to make sure we can help place them with the companies that need them most. In this ever changing economy, the best thing we can all do is support each other.”

Marine companies interested in attending as a vendor are welcome. Hiring managers should contact Chesapeake Marine Training Institute to sign up.

Chesapeake Marine Training Institute will provide table display space for companies to meet and greet job applicants, as well as private rooms to interview potential candidates. Space to attend the event as a professional marine company is free, but limited and available on a first come, first served basis.

Applicants and vendors attending the event from out of the area are eligible to use the Chesapeake Marine Training Institute rate at nearby hotels.
