September 8, 2015

The UK P&I Club one of the leading shipping protection and indemnity mutual insurers,  has awarded Tobias Rennekamp the  Robin Travis Scholar for 2015.

Tobias will spend three months in the Thomas Miller London office and the offices of selected lawyers, surveyors, insurance brokers and other shipping, transport and insurance businesses.

Tobias is currently an Assistant Operations Officer at Liberty One Shipmanagement GmbH & Co KG in Bremen and is actively involved in all aspects of managing its fleet of handy size bulk carriers.

The Robin Travis Scholarship programme is tailored to provide both a practical and theoretical knowledge and experience and to build on the Scholar’s commercial experience.

Hugo Wynn-Williams, Chairman of Thomas Miller, says: “We look forward to welcoming Tobias to Thomas Miller during September. The Robin Travis Scholarship is an excellent opportunity for its recipients to progress their career and broaden their experience of the shipping, transport and insurance sectors.”

Tobias Rennekamp, says: “I wish to further expand my knowledge in insurance, underwriting and legal processes. The Robin Travis Scholarship gives me an opportunity to expand my knowledge in a field which I have always found rather complex and fascinating at the same time. I hope the in-depth training helps me to improve the quality of my performance.”

Robin Travis was a Thomas Miller director who was responsible for Thomas Miller’s German business, initially for UK P&I Club and later for the Through Transport Club. He died suddenly and prematurely in 1991. The Robin Travis Scholarship was set up in his memory the following year.
