UANI urges Obama Administration to discipline MTN following evidence it conspired to bypass U.S. Sanctions against Iran.

UANI ( United Against Nuclear Iran) Ambassador Mark D. Wallace, issued the following statement regarding new evidence that MTN actively conspired to bypass U.S. sanctions and procure U.S. technology for the Iranian regime:
"MTN’s corruption in Iran clearly has no bounds. MTN is willing to, and has done, whatever is necessary to give the Iranian regime what it seeks. MTN is a direct threat to U.S. national security interests and the human rights of the Iranian people.
The Obama administration must sanction MTN. It is unacceptable that MTN, a complicit partner of the Iranian regime, is still able to raise capital in the U.S., and has not had its assets and property blocked by the U.S. government.
The U.S. cannot assist MTN in repatriating its illegitimate profits that are now stuck in Iran. The U.S. should be sanctioning MTN, not helping it.
We call for a global boycott of MTN’s products and services.
MTN was a charter member of UANI's Iran Business Registry, launched in 2009, and a continuing focus of UANI’s Tech & Telecom Campaign. MTN is the primary partner of the Iranian regime's mobile telecommunications networks, as a 49% shareholder in MTN Irancell, the rest of which is owned by the regime itself. MTN has carried out orders from the regime to shut off text messaging and Skype during times of political protest, and reportedly has a floor in its Tehran headquarters where Iranian military officials compile and access tracking data."
