Bouchard Transportation Co., Inc. Pledges Additional Funds in Support of Student Scholarships at SUNY Maritime College

Bouchard Transportation Co., Inc., President and CEO Morton S. Bouchard III was honored at Maritime College’s Annual Admiral’s Scholarship Dinner for his continued support of the College and its students. In recognition of the occasion, Mr. Bouchard announced plans for the construction of an on-campus dormitory to house visitors to the Bouchard Transportation Company, Inc., Tug & Barge Simulation Center currently in development on the Throggs Neck campus.

The simulation facility was funded by a gift provided by Bouchard Transportation Company, Inc., that was previously announced, and will be available to SUNY Maritime College students as part of their program of study, and to outside tug and barge companies for employee training. The Center will offer full mission bridge simulators, instruction stations and a “de-briefing area,” where instructors can meet with their students to discuss navigation, seamanship and bridge resource management skills required in the operation of tugs and barges.

“Bouchard Transportation has a long and valued history with SUNY Maritime College,” said Mr. Bouchard. “Our commitment to supporting the school, its extraordinary students, and the future of the maritime industry remains unwavering. With the construction of an on-campus dormitory, we hope to facilitate use of the Simulation Center to benefit both the school and the industry at large.”

In a reflection of their ongoing commitment to support student scholarships at SUNY Maritime College, Bouchard Transportation Co., Inc. also pledged additional funds to benefit the Admiral’s Dinner Scholarship Fund. Scholarships benefit students who have demonstrated exemplary character and achievement in their coursework, extracurricular activities, and personal endeavors.
