USN Submarine Work Contract Awarded to General Dynamics

Navy awards General Dynamics a contract to plan submarine maintenance and modernization work.

The U.S. Navy has awarded General Dynamics Electric Boat a $6.9 million contract modification to plan maintenance and modernization work on the Los Angeles-class submarines USS Hartford (SSN-768) and USS Toledo (SSN-769).  Electric Boat is a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics.

Under the terms of the contract modification, Electric Boat will perform advanced planning and material procurement to prepare for and complete Dry-Docking Selected Restricted Availabilities (DSRAs) on the two submarines.

The planning and execution of the two DSRAs has a combined potential value of $75 million. The DSRAs are scheduled for completion by January 2013.  The work will take place at Electric Boat's Groton shipyard.
