Early Bird Pricing Extended for SHIPPINGInsight Fleet Optimization Conference; More than 30 Industry Experts to Address Challenges and Solutions for Reducing Costs and Enhancing Efficiency in Ship Operations.

The organizers of the SHIPPINGInsight 2012 Fleet Optimization Conference in Stamford, Conn., have extended the deadline for Early Bird registration until Sept. 21st. The $995 Early Bird registration represents a savings of $400 off the full onsite conference fee of $1,395.

Taking place at the Sheraton Stamford Hotel Oct. 8-10, SHIPPINGInsight 2012 will bring together stakeholders from across the industry to explore best practices to achieve gains in ship efficiency. Panels will focus on major issues, including ship design and construction, fuel and propulsion alternatives, hull performance, asset management strategies, voyage optimization and regulatory compliance.

“We have assembled a distinguished line-up of more than 30 speakers, who will share their insights on the challenges and solutions for reducing operating costs and optimizing fleet operations,” said conference co-producer Frank Soccoli. “They include senior executives from ocean carriers, classification societies, analysts, engineering firms, naval architects, engine manufacturers, navigation and communication/IT suppliers, and other companies and organizations.”

Clay Maitland, founding chairman of the North American Maritime Environment Protection Association (NAMEPA) and managing partner of International Registries, Inc., is the keynote speaker. Other speakers include executives from ABB Inc./BU Marine, ABS Americas, AMARCON, Applied Weather Technology, Blank Rome LLP, Clarksons, ConocoPhillips, DNV, Emerson, Eniram, Germanischer Lloyd USA, Herbert Engineering Corp., IMESA, International Paint, International Registries, Inc., Jeppesen, JetBlue, NAPA, Raytheon, Rolls-Royce Naval Marine Inc., Royal Caribbean International, Saab TransponderTech AB, Swedish Maritime Association, Transas, Wärtsilä, and World Fuel Services.

Sponsors for the conference include ABS, DNV, Emerson and NAMEPA. The exclusive media sponsors are Maritime Reporter and Maritime Professional.

“The economic outlook for the shipping industry for the near future is grim, with a deepening slump in world trade, overcapacity in most segments, low freight rates, rising fuel costs, tight credit and increased costs of regulatory compliance,” said conference co-producer Jim Rhodes. “In this economic climate, it is critical for ship operators to trim costs and improve efficiency. Their survival will depend on it.”
