SHIPPINGInsight Extends Early-bird Discount Rate

September 3, 2013

The organizers of the SHIPPINGInsight 2013 Fleet Optimization Conference today announced that the deadline for Early-Bird registration has been extended. The discount offer expires at midnight, September 13. The conference will take place Oct. 22-24 at the Sheraton Stamford Hotel, in Stamford, Conn.

Attendees registering prior to the early-ird deadline will receive $200 off the full conference registration fee.

“We have assembled a distinguished lineup of moderators, speakers and panelists for this year’s conference, including senior executives from 17 major shipping companies, as well as experts from classification societies, shipyards, naval architects, engine manufacturers, consultancies, IT companies and suppliers of ship systems, products and services,” said conference coproducer Frank Soccoli. “This is an unprecedented opportunity for maritime professionals from all segments to connect and engage with industry leaders and experts to discuss the challenges and solutions facing today’s shipping industry.”

“Shipping companies are struggling to maintain profitability in a business climate characterized by overtonnage, low freight rates, rising fuel costs, tight credit and increased costs of regulatory compliance,” said conference coproducer Jim Rhodes. “The Fleet Optimization Conference is intended to serve as a forum where ship operators and other industry stakeholders can share insights on ways to operate ships more efficiently.”

The keynote speakers for the conference are Anthony Chiarello, president and CEO of TOTE, Inc., and Yasushi Nakamura, executive vice president of ClassNK. Conference chairman is Greg Trauthwein, editor of Maritime Reporter and Engineering News. Panel sessions will include: Meeting the Environmental Challenge, Efficient Ship Design, Fuel and Propulsion Management, System Performance Monitoring and Maintenance, Fleet Intelligence and Voyage Optimization, and Ship Performance.

A dedicated LNG Workshop and a special session on Managing Organizational Change have been added to the agenda for 2013.

The LNG Workshop will be a roundtable where experts will debate the potential for widespread adoption of LNG as a marine fuel. All registered delegates to the Fleet Optimization Conference are welcome to attend the LNG Workshop at no additional cost. The Managing Organizational Change session will provide conference delegates with proven tools and methodologies to effect change within their companies to meet the new business environment.

Corporate sponsors for the conference are ABS, ClassNK, DnV, GE Aviation, Lloyd’s Register, Pole Star, Rolls-Royce, Tetra Tech and Transas.
