Nor-Shipping 2013 Announce Speaker Lineup

Nor-Shipping 2013 opens just three months from now with a cast of speakers featuring top executives from world-leading companies covering the entire value chain of themaritime industry – from shipowners and technology and service companies to regulators and financiers.

Among speakers welcoming delegates to the Opening Conference on June 4 will be Norway’s Minister of Trade and Industry Trond Giske, who will provide a governmental perspective, and IMO Secretary-General Koji Sekimizu, who will share regulatory insights.HRH Crown Prince Haakon of Norway will also attend.

The first roundtable discussion kicks off by debating the question “What’s Next?” for the maritime industry – the lifeblood of the global economy. MasamichiMorooka, a seasonedtop executive with Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK) and Chairman of the International Chamber of Shipping, along with Dr. Ali Obaid Al-Yabhouni, the UAE Governor for OPEC and Alternate Chairman of the OPEC Board of Governors,will be the keynote speakers for this session. Maersk Drilling CEO Claus V. Hemmingsenand others will join the discussion.

The second roundtable on change-makers brings together leaders from around the world to find innovative solutions to common issues in shipping, an industry that touches some 90% of world trade. Forward-looking leaders will spearhead change, pushing the maritime industry towards a period of greater stability and unlocking business opportunities in new markets, fuel-efficient design, LNG fuelling and smarter use of new technology.

Keynote speakers for this session are Andreas Sohmen-Pao, Group CEOof BW Gas and BW Maritime, as well as Vice Admiral Peter Neffenger, the U. S. Coast Guard Deputy Commandant for Operations who was recognized for his leadership during the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill. Kongsberg CEO Walter Qvam and fellow high-level panelists will join the debate.

Nor-Shipping is a premier maritime forum extending over an entire week that features conferences, networking events and many other activities. New initiatives this year include Nor-Shipping Venture, a kind of maritime match-making event that aims to unleash the synergies between investors and growth companies, as well as Nor-Shipping Island at Tjuvholmen in central Oslo, which will be transformed into a venue for social networking.

Nor-Shipping will again feature the Agenda Offshore conference to showcase the importance of the offshore industry and will also host an Ocean Talent Camp to help attract and retain young talent.
