ShipMoney Expands Customer Base in Norway

November 21, 2013

Maritime Payment Solutions, LLC – Program Manager of ShipMoney for Crew and ShipMoney for Captains announced that it has signed a Norwegian Ship Management Company that operates a fleet of dry cargo vessels, offshore supply vessels and bargesadding to a growing list of ShipMoney clients across Europe. The Managing Director of the Company stated, “ShipMoney meets our objective of increasing safety, the Program provides significant treasury flexibility regarding onboard cash and reduces the cost of sending funds to the vessels.”

ShipMoney is a prepaid Visa card program developed for the commercial maritime industry to reduce onboard cash while offering a new and unique crew welfare benefit for crew and captains. Since it is relatively expensive to deliver cash to vessels, if the amount of onboard cash and the number of cash deliveries could be reduced, there would be a direct and measurable cost savings.

ShipMoney for Crew is a prepaid Visa payroll card that provides an alternative to receiving some of their wages in cash and the remainder wired home. Crew can use their ShipMoney Visa cards worldwide at ATMs, online purchases, stores, restaurants as well as to send money home to friends or family.

ShipMoney for Captains is a prepaid Visa purchasing card that provides an alternative way to pay for provisions, emergency repairs and other ship expenses. Cards can be loaded (and unloaded) 24/7/365 with real-time and customized reporting. ShipMoney for Captains provides treasury management with a flexible tool for funding ship operations at a significantly reduced cost.
