Marine design and engineering company Houlder announced the formation of an LNG project team in its London headquarters. Ian Meaden, Des Upcraft and Lijo Thomas joined the team this month to work exclusively on developing LNG projects in response to market requirements.

The company said its new talent investment means it can build on its current LNG equipment projects to help with all aspects of marine design, engineering and project management from initial FEED study to implementation.

Ian Meaden, former lead of Lloyd’s Register Gas Ship Centre of Excellence and senior naval architect at Wavespec, commented “I’m very pleased to join the Houlder team and expand their LNG capability. These are exciting times in the Gas Ship sector with fresh challenges and opportunities. My colleagues and I are already working on some exciting developments that we’re looking forward to sharing with industry. ”

Des Upcraft, who also joins from Lloyd’s Register heads up business development and Lijo Thomas has joined as senior engineer. Lijo is formerly of Wavespec, Lloyd’s Register and Global Maritime where he led numerous new build design tasks.

Houlder is expecting to recruit more people to the team in the coming year and is already advising key players in the industry on future strategy.
