New Record for APM Terminals 10k Run

Yunis Stitan runs center city course in 32.25 during the long-distance event of the Third Annual Hague Peace Run in support of UNICEF.
 
Over 8,000 participants competed in the Third Annual Hague Peace Run, held on September 19th in The Netherlands’ capital city, with 26 year-old Dutch runner Yunis Stitan winning the APM Terminals 10k run with a course record time of 32 minutes and 25 seconds. The 10 kilometer race through the streets of The Hague attracted 50 competitors, including Dutch Prince Pieter-Christiaan and many experienced distance runners in the field of 4300 runners. The Women’s 10k race was won by 29 year- old Moniek van Lieshout, with a time of 38.49.
 
A Children’s race of 1.5 kilometers, a Youth run of 2.5 km and a 5 km race are also part of the annual event, first held in 2013, which raises funds for UNICEF under the banner “We run for peace”. UNICEF, the United Nations’ children’s charity organization, is mandated by the United Nations General Assembly “to advocate for the protection of children's rights, to help meet their basic needs and to expand their opportunities to reach their full potential”.

The Fourth Annual Hague Peace Run will be held on September 24th, 2016.
