ASA Recognizes AWO for Support

August 5, 2011

The American Salvage Association (ASA) presented The American Waterways Operators’ (AWO) Chairman Peter Stephaich and President Tom Allegretti with a Chelsea brass ship’s striking clock as a way to recognize AWO’s support during the eight years that ASA was a valued member of the Vessel Alliance, the umbrella of marine organizations that reside within AWO’s office suite.  ASA President Mauricio Garrido, who presented the award during AWO’s Executive Committee meeting on August 3 in Arlington, VA, said, “ASA benefited in many ways from our association with this Alliance, particularly by the stellar company we kept including AWO, INTERTANKO, the Passenger Vessel Association, and Waterways Council, Inc.    Witnessing the government affairs, industry and association membership-related work of these long-established and respected industry trade associations was a great beacon for ASA in navigating its own marine salvage issues.”

“We will fondly remember the time that our associations spenttogether and we thank you for the opportunities we have gained as a result,” Garrido continued.
