Port of Oakland Hires Workforce Development Manager

The Port of Oakland  named Julina Bonilla the Workforce Development Manager in its Social Responsibility Division.

In the newly-created position, Bonilla is primarily responsible for managing a workforce development program that gives local residents access to port-related employment opportunities. Her responsibilities at the port include partnering with government agencies, schools, labor and the community to develop a program that prepares and places local residents in port-related careers. This includes workers from underserved communities that face barriers to employment.

Bonilla brings to the position more than 20 years of workforce development experience and most recently served as Executive Director of the West Oakland Jobs Resource Center. She graduated from U.C. Berkeley with a B.A. in Sociology and holds an elected position as Trustee for the Peralta Community Colleges.
