In partnership with the Port of Dover Consultancy, BMT Isis (BMT), a subsidiary of BMT Group, has announced the launch of a two day, interactive training course and workshop for Harbor Masters, Port Managers and Port Authorities.  Entitled ‘Managing Port Safety and Security’, the course will provide delegates with a better understanding of what’s required to help meet the guidance contained within the Port Marine Safety Code.

With contributions from the Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) and Port Skills and Safety (PSS), the two day workshop is scheduled to take place February 12-13, 2014 and will be delivered by experienced Port Operators, recognized Marine Safety Practitioners and guest speakers.

Kevin Richardson, Chief Harbor Master from Port of Dover commented, “I am delighted to be a part of this exciting training initiative with BMT. I believe strongly that the blend of expertise and experience provided by both organizations will really benefit port professionals and port executives alike to better understand their roles and responsibilities in port marine safety and port security.”

Delegates will be given the opportunity to take part in an interactive emergency planning and response exercise using BMT’s REMBRANDT simulation software, enabling attendees to identify and assess risk mitigation measures.  This exercise will also help to plan for and respond to emergency situations and run ‘what if’ scenarios within a simulated port environment.

Lee Rhodes, Senior Consultant at BMT Isis explained, “We’re excited to be working in partnership with the Port of Dover to deliver this bespoke workshop.  This program is yet another example of our commitment to continuous improvement and sharing best practice within the industry in which we operate. We provide a range of safety awareness training courses including risk assessment and management techniques and application of the PSMC, ISM and ISPS codes.”
