Oxberry Risk Maritime Continues to Expand Services

September 6, 2011

Oxberry Risk Maritime continues to expand its maritime security and anti-piracy services.

Oxberry Risk Maritime believes that identification and management of risk is a vital aspect of modern maritime business. Dynamic growth in an ever expanding market requires dynamic solutions to meet and exceed expectations. Oxberry Risk Maritime is responding to the demands of maritime and shipping sector organisations through the delivery of comprehensive maritime security and anti-piracy services coupled with up to date training for vessel master’s and crew and supported by comprehensive maritime risk intelligence, tracking and monitoring.

In an effort to provide comprehensive maritime security services to clients, Oxberry Risk Maritime has leveraged its global reach by establishing an armed capability through a strategic alliance which allows the company to embark and disembark armed maritime security teams from strategic ports such as Djibouti, Muscat, Mombasa, Durban and Galle.

The company’s armed maritime security teams are comprised of a combination of former British Royal Marines, Royal Navy and UK Special Forces (SBS) personnel who have extensive experience in counter piracy operations, maritime counter terrorism, ship boarding and search operations. In order to keep costs to a minimum for its clients, the company recently introduced a favourable pricing structure by reducing rates for the days a vessel is not transiting a designated high risk area thus affording clients a significant saving on their maritime security costs.

The company continues to work with clients to manage their own security functions by providing piracy risk advisory teams which are deployed to vessels worldwide to assess a vessel’s vulnerability, enhance the vessel’s anti-piracy plan and provide comprehensive on board training to the master and crew in anti-piracy measures including the rehearsal of the crew under simulated boarding attempts as well as how to deal with a hostage situation in the event of the vessel being hijacked. Already a recognised UK Maritime & Coastguard Agency approved provider of maritime security courses such as the Ship Security Officer and Anti-Piracy Awareness to former British Armed Forces personnel, shipping companies and the superyacht sector, Oxberry Risk Maritime continues to further develop its training capability to help organisations manage their risk exposure to piracy and maritime terrorism.
