ISO 280007 conference puts spotlight on Maritime Security Companies & 'Open Ocean' advocates an holistic approach.

Attendance at the recent ISO conference to establish the framework and content of the new ISO PAS 28007 in Lyon gave OpenOcean another opportunity to talk to the industry about the merits of taking a holistic view of the provision of security to ships at sea.
PAS 28007 is intended to set a standard by which PMSC s should operate when providing security personnel on ships operating in the HRA. Its development is an indication of the concern that many in the shipping world have about the apparent lack of such regulation in the market today and the scope for accidents and injury arising from "cowboy" operators able to move relatively freely in the marketplace.
“From the outset, it was the intention of the Open Ocean project to bring together a highly trained team of companies whose aim was to provide the very highest quality of service to ship owners and operators and who wished to work as part of a complete and integrated security service where the proper use of good intelligence data would be the priority,” stated Open Ocean Managing Director Murray Hammick. “With its holistic approach to maritime security, the strategy is coordinated, minimizing the risk of miscommunication and shipboard error.”
