UAE, NAMEPA Environmental Summit

The United Arab Emirates is an emerging force as a global maritime center.  Since 2006 is has launched its ship registry, developed its extensive maritime resources, and experienced continued growth in every maritime sector.

The UAE will be presenting a summit on environmental vigilance “The United Arab Emirates in the 21st Century: Working together for a greener maritime world.”  The summit will take place from March 1-3 in Abu Dhabi, when global leaders will gather to discuss the current environmental regulatory framework, innovations in ship design and technologies, the impact of the financial crisis, and ways forward for industry.  The summit will also include a workshop on how to take the tools of environmental vigilance and develop a program of awareness and action towards a sustainable future.

NAMEPA is a partner in this environmental summit, which highlights the industry’s commitment to marine environment protection, and the UAE’s leadership role.
