Louisiana Gulf Coast Oil Exposition (LAGCOE), one of the world's pioneer oil and gas expositions, recently announced the creation of the LAGCOE Education Fund, a fund at Community Foundation of Acadiana (CFA), according to Angela Cring, Executive Director of LAGCOE.

Contributions to the newly instituted fund, managed by CFA, are tax deductible.  Donations to the fund will be used to expand LAGCOE’s organization purpose of “fostering public education of the function and services of the oil industry for promotion of the oil industry as a whole and for encouragement of, and retention of the oil industry in the Louisiana area.”

“LAGCOE has been serving the industry and our community for nearly 60 years through various industry-related, educational and philanthropic avenues.  Partnering with the Community Foundation of Acadiana allows the organization to expand its efforts in a substantial way, opening up more opportunities for service to our community and industry,” said Cring.

The LAGCOE organization’s purposes for the fund may include projects that serve to educate the public or the industry in a manner that will be beneficial to the overall wellbeing of the industry.  Such projects may include, but are not limited to scholarships, educational presentations, support of STEM schools, public outreach, workforce development programs and career fairs. “The benefits of this project will be felt by many,” said Kirby Arceneaux, LAGCOE 2013 Chairman. “It will ultimately benefit all those impacted by the oil and gas industry and foster an even stronger partnership between the industry and its community.”  “We have been eager to partner with LAGCOE on this exciting new project,” said Raymond Hebert, President and CEO of CFA. “LAGCOE’s ultimate mission of fostering education is perfectly in line with the overall goals and purpose of the Community Foundation.”

LAGCOE will be held October 22–24, 2013, at The Cajundome & Convention Center in Lafayette, LA. In continuous operation since 1955, LAGCOE is a first rate exposition where world class oil and gas industry companies display the latest equipment and services and technical sessions address pertinent issues from across the globe. In 2011, LAGCOE welcomed 397 exhibitors from 4 countries and 14,000 attendees from 47 states and 26 countries.

CFA’s core purpose is to connect all generous donors to the causes they care about.   CFA is south Louisiana’s premier philanthropic organization benefiting our region. CFA has realized cumulative commitments exceeding $105 million and has made cumulative grants of over $55 million.
