Kota Wajar Released by Pirates

On 28 December 2009, the Singapore flagged Container Ship Kota Wajar was released outside Haradere off the coast of Somalia. EU NAVFOR is monitoring the situation. On the early morning of October 15 2009, the Container Ship Kota Wajar, with a crew of 21, was hijacked in the Indian Ocean by Pirates some 300 nautical miles north of the Seychelles. The Canadian warship HMCS Fredericton from TF 508 is now providing medical and logistical assisting to the Kota Wajar.
