Klaipedos Nafta and Port of Helsingborg Sign LNG Deal

 Lithuania’s Klaipedos Nafta has signed a deal with the port of Helsingborg to cooperate on the HEKLA – Helsingborg & Klaipeda LNG infrastructure facility deployment project (HEKLA).

 
Klaipedos Nafta has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Spanish Association of Natural Gas for Mobility (GASNAM) to cooperate on the standardisation of LNG bunkering operations.
 
According to the agreement with port of Helsingborg, Klaipedos Nafta acquires the right to use the financial support of EUR 6 million of the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) part of the EU financing program, approved by Coordination Committee for the construction of its liquefied natural gas onshore reloading station. 
 
The construction of the LNG reloading facility is expected to start at the end of 2015 or early 2016, when a deal with the contractor is signed, the company said in a statement. Currently, Klaipedos Nafta is pending initial proposals from potential contractors.

Under the agreement with GASNAM, Klaipėdos Nafta says it will exchange experiences with GASNAM in order to develop a LNG bunkering standard that will cover the operations of LNG supply for both ships and trucks.
 
"It is only natural for us to become a partner of the organisation, which brings together gas market participants, because we can share our experience with international market players and standardise certain processes together with them," Mantas Bartuska, CEO of Klaipėdos Nafta.
