Wallem Group has appointed Mingfa Liu to the newly established role of managing director at Wallem Ship Management China.

Liu will concentrate on Wallem’s relationships with shipyards and drydocks in China, and represent Wallem’s ship management and technical services to the country’s large number of ship owners.

In his career Liu sailed as a marine engineer before coming ashore to work in the ship management industry. His management career has developed through senior roles in Hong Kong, U.K. and China, and most recently included the senior management position in China for a leading global tanker owner.

Speaking of the appointment, Wallem Group CEO Simon Doughty said, “We have the opportunity to provide a wider range of maritime solutions to clients, and build a stronger local client base in China.

As a shipbuilding and ship owning country, China offers opportunities for ship management, newbuilding supervision, ship agency, procurement services, lifeboat repair and maintenance, technical and crewing services and much more, Wallem noted.
