IRClass Awards Scholarships to Law Students of MU

ndian Register of Shipping (IRClass)has awarded scholarships in the field of law instituted in the memory of Late Shri Venkiteswaran, a legal luminary and internationally acclaimed stalwart in the field of Maritime law who was a Director on the Board of Indian Register of Shipping for more than a decade.

A total of 16 students were awarded with a two year scholarship in recognition of their excellent academic performance in various subjects of the LLB course of Government Law College (University of Mumbai). It is one of the premier institutes in India the field of legal education.

Family members of late Shri Venkiteswaran, Mr. Kumar and Ms Priya, who were also the alumni Government Law College, were present at the gathering. Mr. Kumarthanked IRClass for instituting the scholarships and mentioned that such initiatives will encourage the students of law to follow in the footsteps of late Shri Venkiteswaran.

Professor Pithawala of Government Law College thanked IRClass and commented “This is the first time in the history of Government Law College that any organisation had taken such an initiative”.

Mr. Arun Sharma,CMD, IRClass in his address to the gathering stated ‘I would like to draw attention of the awardees to the exemplary spirit of commitment and excellence that the late Shri. Venkiteswaran brought to bear on the various aspects of his work. The idea behind the scholarships is to encourage students in the field of law, who would hopefully go on to make their own mark in the legal field.
