MUA Elects New Slate of Officers and Board Members

Underwriters, brokers, claims personnel and key industry suppliers converged on the Intercontinental Hotel in Buckhead Atlanta last week for the 83rd Annual Meeting of the Inland Marine Underwriters Association(IMUA).

With more than 275 in attendance, the meeting officially got underway with the election of a new slate of officers. Peter Opinante, Swiss Re America, who has served as the Association’s Chairman for the past year, was formerly inaugurated for a second term. Also elected to serve a second term were Deputy Chairperson Michelle Hoehn, The Travelers Group, and Vice Chairman William Rosa, XL Reinsurance.

James Drewey, IMUA Membership and Nominating Committee Chair, announced the election of the Board of Director’s Class of 2015 which includes James Cunningham – Markel Group; Diane Shelton, Catlin U.S. and Grace Thomas, Great American.

Members of the Board of Directors to fill vacancies to the Class of 2015 were Sheila O’Keeffe, Gen Re; Joseph Rich, Liberty Mutual and Michelle Sipple, AIG.

Members of the Board of Directors to fill vacancies to the Class of 2014 were Tim Brockett, Munich Re America.

Also reelected at the 83rd annual meeting was Kevin O’Brien and Lillian Colson, the Association’s President and CEO and Vice President and Secretary respectively.
