Holcomb to Speak at Indiana Logistics Summit

November 13, 2016

Newly-elected Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb will provide special keynote remarks at next week's Indiana Logistics Summit.  The two-day event is scheduled for Nov. 16-17 at the Indiana Convention Center and the Governor-elect will speak at 9 a.m. in the Sagamore Ballroom on Thursday, Nov. 17. Hosted by Ports of Indiana, Purdue University and Conexus Indiana, the Summit brings together over 350 executives from the logistics and advanced manufacturing sector to discuss critical issues facing all modes of transportation, and will also include 150 high school students participating in "Logistics U," a parallel program exploring 200 years of logistics in honor of Indiana's bicentennial.

A strong supporter of transportation infrastructure, Governor-elect Holcomb played an important role during Governor Mitch Daniels' administration in securing passage of the Major Moves initiative, an aggressive 10-year transportation plan to significantly improve and expand Indiana's highway infrastructure. During the recent campaign, he spoke often about his desire to complete I-69 and his support for developing a fourth port in southeast Indiana.

The Summit, now in its 14th year, will include an "Election Aftermath" keynote luncheon address by political analyst and humorist Stuart Rothenberg. In addition, discussions about global issues affecting U.S. markets, the future of transportation, workforce challenges, business opportunities and cost-saving measures will be presented by more than 20 executives from the U.S. Department of Commerce, U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Aviation Administration, Norfolk Southern, Celadon Group, Genesee & Wyoming Railroad, Indiana Department of Transportation, Indiana University Health and more.
