The American Equity Underwriters, Inc. (AEU) Senior Loss Control Manager, Terry Guidry, has been appointed to the Shipbuilder’s Council of America’s (SCA) Health and Safety Executive Committee.

This newly formed committee will act as a think tank to assist in fulfilling the obligations of SCA’s new Shipbuilding Group Alliance with OSHA. Committee members will provide feedback on comments for new regulations, safety seminar topics and speakers, and support SCA Health and Safety legislative initiatives.

“SCA's recently announced Health and Safety Executive Committee will be the leadership group integral in shaping the Association's regulatory affairs initiatives, including the OSHA - Shipbuilding Group Alliance. The Committee includes safety professionals from key stakeholders across the industry including Terry Guidry of The American Equity Underwriters. Considering Terry's extensive experience in the shipbuilding and ship repair industry and familiarity with OSHA, he will immediately contribute to the Committee's pursuit to offer the best Health and Safety program possible for our industry.” said Stephen Woodring, Government Relations Coordinator for the SCA.

This recent appointment to a prominent SCA position is the second in recent months from AEU. AEU’s Rob Stuardi was named to the SCA’s Industry Partners’ Committee last October, a position formerly held by AEU’s Jack Martone, former U.S. Department of Labor Chief of Financial Management and Insurance and Acting Director of the Division of Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation.
