Golar Redesigns Ship Management with BASSnet

June 13, 2016

Following a comprehensive exercise to insource all ship management functions and to build a fully integrated shipping company, Golar LNG recently chose the BASSnet software as the core building block for the management of its fleet of 23 LNG carriers.

Based in Oslo, Golar Management – the ship management unit of Golar LNG – has joined other shipping industry leaders, such as Stolt Tankers, Anthony Veder, NYK, “K” Line, Wallenius, Hapag Lloyd, Wilhelmsen and CMA CGM, in the BASSnetTM customer community.

“BASSnet is fast becoming the number one choice in shipping software solutions for major ship owners and ship managers around the world due to its constant resolve to develop and implement the software as per industry requirements and customers’ needs”, says Øistein Dahl, COO of Golar Management. “Our endorsement of the BASSnet system stems from its impressive functionality, modern technology and organisational capability to deliver. This played a major role in us choosing BASSnet.”

With the BASSnet Fleet Management System, Golar Management can align its asset management, maintenance program and purchasing processes for optimal endorsement by oil majors and charterers, as well as enjoy a solution that keeps abreast of new developments and requirements in the maritime industry.

For BASS, the LNG operator’s decision to purchase key BASSnet modules stands as a testament to the quality of its Fleet Management System, as well as its growing foothold in the international LNG shipping segment. BASS’ Vice President of Sales, Haakon Dalan, says, “The success of this agreement with Golar shows that BASS has proven its capabilities and software value, and that Golar is confident that it can realise the rewards of safe, reliable and optimized fleet performance with the BASSnet Fleet Management Systems. We are looking forward to serving and developing a long-term relationship with Golar.”

With this deal, BASS enters into a prosperous future with an assuring stride following recent contract signings for the BASSnet software. Golar LNG is one of the most prominent operators and owners of LNG carriers globally.
